Our credentials include Certified SHSS®, Certified Grab Bar Specialist™, AIP Home Safety Advisor™, and Aging In Place Essentials® Professional.
✔ Assessment-First and Prevention-Focused: Every service begins with a professional home safety evaluation. We do not install grab bars without an assessment — because where a bar is placed matters just as much as whether it is there at all. Our recommendations are evidence-based, practical, and grounded in real-world fall risk.
✔ Dementia Friendly Certified: We are trained and experienced in working respectfully with clients experiencing memory loss or cognitive changes. We communicate at the client's pace, explain every step before we take it, and never rush.
✔ CPR, AED & First Aid Certified: Your safety matters during every moment of every visit — not just in the work we leave behind.
✔ Local, Respectful, and Transparent: Minnesota Safe Steps is a locally owned, MN-registered LLC serving Southern Minnesota. We offer honest flat pricing with no hidden fees, no upselling, and no pressure. Every client is treated with dignity, patience, and respect.
✔ Flexible and Family-Inclusive: We offer virtual consults, family video walkthroughs, and written reports emailed to designated family members — because the people who love you deserve to be part of the process, even from a distance.
✔ Fully Insured: We carry professional liability insurance on every job. You are protected.
We Are Not:
✘ A Remodeling or Construction Company: We do not perform large-scale renovations, structural modifications, ramp construction, door widening, or electrical or plumbing work. When your needs go beyond our scope, we connect you with vetted, MN-licensed accessibility contractors who specialize in exactly that.
✘ A Medical or Therapy Provider: We do not provide medical diagnoses, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or clinical services. Our assessments are professional safety evaluations — not medical opinions. We work alongside your healthcare team, not in place of them.
✘ A Product Seller: We do not sell products. We provide installation and placement services. This keeps our recommendations unbiased and keeps you free from sales tax on products. Any items needed for your safety add-on packages are sourced and invoiced separately at cost — or you can purchase them yourself.
✘ A Franchise or Sales-Driven Operation: We are an independent, locally owned small business. We are not part of a national chain. We have no sales quotas and no commission structure. Our only goal is your safety.
✘ Available for Emergency Same-Day Service: We operate by appointment, with flexible scheduling including evenings and Saturdays. Safety Membership Platinum members receive same-day emergency scheduling. All other clients are typically seen within one week.

Before we arrive, you'll receive a brief confirmation with what to expect and how long we'll be there.

During the visit, Krista will introduce herself, explain what she'll be evaluating, and ask your permission before entering any room. She works quietly and respectfully — no disruption, no mess.

Before she leaves, she'll sit down with you and walk through everything she found in plain language. No jargon. No alarm. Just honest, prioritized information you can actually use.

Within 2 business days (Comprehensive and above), you'll receive your written report by email — and a copy goes to any family member you designate, at no extra charge.

There is never pressure to book additional services. Recommendations are yours to act on at your own pace.
